Abiola Olanrewaju Olu, (Abiolu)

Who is Abiolu?

Abiola Olanrewaju Olu, (Abiolu) is God’s loving child, a worshipper and a friend to many people. She was born in Abakaliki  Ebonyi State on October 28, 1981, to Captain Akin Olatunji, and Patience Olatunji both of blessed memories.

I was saved by Grace in the Year 2000 when I joined the Redeemed Christian Church of God. It has been joy to find Christ; and as a new person, that’s been the best thing that ever happened to me! He called me out of darkness and shone his light on me. Col. 1:13. I found rest in my soul, the Lord Jesus took away my sin, shame, guilt and pains. Testimony: my life was delivered from the battles of polygamy.

Every day, (and every moment) I spend in His presence is always a refreshing one. I became free from every fear of the unknown, sometimes when I did not know what the future holds for me. Hallelujah, God gave me joy, peace and confidence to move on to a fulfilling life. I had a major breakthrough after my salvation experience that made people to say, ‘It can only be God.’

Journey to Music Ministry

I started singing as a Teenager in an Aladura church in Ibadan, Oyo State. Then, I was living with my Aunt, Mrs Funmilayo Odeyemi, who God used to help in my journey.

We are the household of Faith. Daddy after his retirement from the military worked at an Anglican church in Ibadan, as a Reverend. My brother, Segun Olatunji, sings and plays the trumpet. I am married to a Great Musician and worshipper, Olu Sam, and our children also play musical instruments. These are sources of inspiration and blessings to me on my music career and ministry. Glory be to God, Almighty.

I have been involved in the choirs of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, in Ibadan and Lagos parishes. I have the passion to serve God and sing His praises wherever I found myself.  Writing songs for our church programmes and events have also been a way to use my musical gift to honour the Lord and serve in the music ministry.

I love to listen to Women of Faith, and Hossana Integrity Music, Micheal W. Smith, including the Spirit-filled songs of  Revd (Dr.) Bola Are, our Mama in Gospel music. Their music have blessed me and have an impact on my music life.

How do you compose your songs?

I compose my songs through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and at times when I reflect on situations around me. Some of these songs were borne out of worship flow in my prayer time and during our family prayer gathering, and as well, in a quiet place.

What does the future holds for you in Music?

With Jesus, I am secured and blessed. Praying and walking by His Spirit in fulfilling my role in the Kingdom of God- leading people to worship God and ministering life to all around me, and everywhere He leads me.

Apart from worship and praise songs, my style of song is kind of a Gospel blues, with a message to strengthen and encourage all peoples, and those who are in need of the Saving Grace.

4. Praise tunes

°The Lord is good ° You are God ° Gba Gbogbo Ope

Someone says she sounds like Matha Munizzi, and ‘Asa’, a Nigerian-French singer. We saw in her a thorough and sincere approach to singing; the top pitch notes, the softness and sonorous tones in her voice cause an ambience that attract a near-by listener.
